Black Room Divide & Bar
This piece, a set of storage cabinets and drink mixing place to the side of the dinner table, has a way of hiding in it’s own shadow. I was careful to fit each door on site, before painting, so that the seams were as tight as possible. Back at the studio, oil enamel was then applied with a sprayer to the desired satin sheen. The bar, a black granite slab behind ‘pocket doors’ , large enough to shake, pour and toss in an olive, is illuminated by light from above falling through the rows of crystal goblets. Small alcoves offer yet more places to display the owner’s favorite objects.
