Veneer Replacement
Cherry veneer aboard this sailing yacht, which had just crossed the Atlantic Ocean from Europe, was damaged due to leaking ports. The amount to replace was not much but the area, above a tall cabinet counter and surrounding sloping ports made this job particularly difficult for achieving a nice, smooth end result. I applied a thin substrate material before the new veneer to fair the surfaces and to provide an excellent bonding layer. Several coats of varnish later and good as new! The boat’s owners where very happy with the results. As a final touch, I polished the aluminum window trim on a buffer wheel before re-installing it.
