We were so impressed with our friends’ built-in wall unit and their experience with Mark Anthony, that we decided to call him to have a built-in wood bench done in our kitchen. He came highly recommended and we were not disappointed. He was able to translate our design idea into a functional and beautiful piece of furniture that appears to have always been a part of our kitchen. We were so satisfied with the piece and the overall experience of working with M. Anthony that we called him recently to have a media/storage unit built in our family room. Once again, the piece is absolutely gorgeous and it has become the center-piece of our family room!
What distinguishes M. Anthony from other quality cabinet makers is his willingness and effort to meet your goals within a reasonable budget. He is extremely patient and will masterfully sketch your ideas until you are fully satisfied with the final design. Without sacrificing the overall appearance and quality of the furniture, he will gladly assist you in chosing from various paints and/or wood finishes to match your style and budget. Another very important variable of working with him is the timely manner in which he will complete the project and will keep you posted of the progress throughout.
Mark Anthony custom made 2 bathroom vanities and one matching cabinet with door(mounted over the water closet). As they were exact replicas of the originals, I consider his finished custom-made products to be perfect matches. He is very reliable and honest. I would recommend him to anyone.
I was extremely pleased with his custom-made work.
Built a custom designed bookcase, desk, shelves, and filing cabinet credenza.
Very well. We had a specific design in mind, which Mark interpreted in drawings and gave us an estimate for. We approved the design, and after waiting for him to finish another job, he built these items for us. He was very good at interpreting our design wishes and was also flexible about changing the final design on the book shelves.
A custom designed built-in media cabinet
Mark Antony was very quick to respond to our inquiry for a custom designed media cabinet, designed by my wife. His bid was a bit higher than others but he was willing to lower his bid to get the job. His work overall was excellent, quality workmanship and attention to detail. He stayed in contact with us as needed during the building process. He is meticulous in his work. While he is not fast (he is a one-man shop), it was worth the wait.
Mark built a large media unit to accommodate a 63 inch Plasma TV and custom sized shelving and cabinets for all the components. He matched the wood and design to existing side wall units. The finished product is beautiful and I could not be more pleased. I will work with Mark in the future on my kitchen cabinets.
Mark came to my home and measured the existing wall unit, took photos and a sample door from my existing unit. He checked the size of all the new components,TV and communicated with the Installer from Best Buy to confirm all measurements were correct prior to building the cabinet. Mark delivered and installed the cabinet on the day we agreed to and the next day the home theater was installed. Everything fit perfectly! Even the installers were impressed with the unit he built for my BIG TV :)Loving my home theater. Thanks Mark!
I wanted to make a built in piece of furniture to hide my computer, printer and monitor and to disply my lcd tv while hiding the tivo and blu ray.
I found Mark Anthony on Angie’s list and called him to give me an estimate. He came over and he asked me questions to figure out the best design to accomplish what i wanted. He sent me a sketch and a quote via email and i told him to start it. he told me it would take him about 2 weeks and lo and behold, two weeks later, her was installing the piece. It was done with such care and attention to detail. i had my mother come over to see it and she usually can pick out any imperfection and she thought it was excellent. It is so much nicer than what i could have imagined. It is a breath of fresh air to deal with a pleasant person who knows what they are doing and is so gifted in their work. Another great thing is that he comes when he says he will and that’s something that is not too common in people today.
Repaired and assembled antique armoire.
Winter Woodworks’ proprietor Mark Anthony answered my e-mail inquiry right away, and although he is in high demand very soon made the time to come over to the house to look at my armoire, which was in about eleven pieces (not including pegs!) with some damage to prominent parts. He beautifully repaired the damaged portions so that the changes are imperceptible, modified the back legs (again, imperceptibly) to account for old age, and even made new pegs out of walnut . He clearly loves what he does, and treated the armoire like the unique piece of furniture that it is. I and my mother (whose great-great-great-grandmother was the first person to own the armoire) are very grateful for his workmanship.
Designed and built one coffee table and two end tables.
The design was done well and the finished product exceeded my expectations.
Winter Woodworks refinished a very large and badly damaged conference table at my office.
Mark Anthony from Winter Woodworks is a skilled craftsman who I can highly recommend. He was always professional, responsive and reliable in all his dealings with me. He was honest, ethical and fair. In addition to doing beautiful work on our conference table, he cares so much about his work and his clients. This was a most positive experience and I will definitely hire Mark again for any furniture refinishing that I may need in the future.
I’ve recently moved to a new apartment with custom-made closets. I needed new shelves to these existing closets but couldn’t reach the company that built them. So I found Winter Woodworks here at Angie’s List and started talking to Mark Anthony. He accepted to do my shelves and I couldn’t be more satisfied with his work.
From the beginning, Mark was very professional and focused on quality – even for a small project like mine, which I really appreciated. He did his best to find the right material that would match the wood and color of my existing shelves and we exchanged emails to clarify a few questions about measurement. The shelves are now finished and installed and I’m really happy with the result: quality/finishings are great, price is fair and Mark is attentive and objective. Would definitely recommend his company and work with him again.
I called Mark in to ask for a quote on building a large solid wood mahogany custom desk for a new home office/library, which is my primary place of work. I saw his name initially on Angie’s list and then looked carefully at his website, which gave indications of high quality work. As a hobbyist woodworker, I had some knowledge of what i wanted and the quality of work I was looking for and knew such work would not come particularly cheap. Bottom line, Mark did not disappoint.
Mark is a professional. He listened carefully to what i wanted and was open to suggestions on the design. He was always courteous and respectful of what I wanted. The end result, although not inexpensive, was a beautiful piece of custom furniture that was pretty much what I wanted, would look good anywhere, and which I enjoy every day.
Only downside – be prepared to have deadlines flexible – true artistes are not always on your schedule. But in my case, even with a modest delay from the original discussed deadline, the results were worth the wait. I would highly recommend Mark’s work and can imagine that his skill in cabinetry and furniture making would easily transfer to architectural work as well.
I needed a tv cabinet retrofitted from the old large projection tvs to a smaller flat screen. I really liked the cabinet and needed a central section with shelves built to match the existing piece.
Mark Anthony was very easy to work with. He showed up on time, helped me come up with ideas that would look great, sketched the project out and gave me a reasonable price and a reasonable time period. The cabinet came out beautiful. Mark Anthony was able to match both the color and style. I like the piece even better now then I did originally.
We hired them to make louvered doors for my cabinets.
He did an excellent job, and I was very pleased! Mark Anthony, the cabinet maker, is extremely talented and very easy to work with.
Repaired 6 dining room chairs.
Mark was pleasant to deal with and did an excellent job.
When we moved into our new house in Miami Shores, Florida, we found that the two corner kitchen cabinets had no shelves. The cabinets were oddly shaped — six sided and awkwardly placed. They were glass fronted so they functioned as display cabinets as well as utilitarian ones. Mark Anthony made templates of the cabinets and stained the front edges of the shelves he made to match the cabinets already there. We now have two good looking and very useful corner cabinets and our glasses and china have a safe resting place.
We really needed the shelf space for our glasses and dishes and were surrounded by still unempty boxes so we were very anxious to get the work done. We called a couple of people from Angie’s List who seemed like possible choices. The most prompt and professional response came from Mark Anthony at Winter Woodworks. He suggested we send him the measurements of the cupboards. I was a bit worried by this, as I felt the cupboards needed to be seen, but I measured and sent photographs. Mark must have felt the same way when he saw my diagrams and he made an appointment to drive up from Coconut Grove to make templates. His manner was calm, and when we discussed his experiences it became clear that we were very much in accord. He was frank in saying he needed to fit our job in with others but by this time we were very confident he would give us what we wanted. When he returned with the shelves and fitted them into place they looked as though they had been built with the cabinets. We have since discussed bookcases with him and were knocked out when he showed us samples of wood shelving that were perfectly to our taste. He is not only an excellent craftsman but has a great eye and a terrific instinct for a client’s needs and style. We will certainly work with him again.
Construction of a Custom made wall unit.
I sent an e-mail to Winter Woodworks with drawings and images of what I envisioned from a wall unit.
Some days later I received a call from the owner, Mark Anthony, he told me by phone he had received the information I had sent him and that he wanted to know a little more about the materials I would like the wall unit be made of, and he explained to me the price of the unit would be related to the price of the materials he used. He also told me that he only uses the best materials available in order to produce the best quality furniture he can be capable of making.
Some days later he sent me another e-mail telling me that in order to make the cabinet to his standards the cost would have to be $4000:00, Once I accepted he sent me images of finishes for the project from where I chose two in particular. On June 16 he came over to the house to bring the samples, toke some extra measurements for the unit, brought his contract and picked up 50% of the deposit, the rest would be charged at completion he explained. Mark Anthony was extremely professional,
as the contract stipulated the work would be completed in 4 weeks but Mark Anthony told me that he may take a bit longer because he likes to do things right. I found his comment understandable since I prefer things to be done right.
On August 2nd I wrote Mark Anthony an E-mail asking for and update on the progress, he promptly answered telling me he was a bit behind on the construction but promised he would finish it in a couple of weeks. I did not lose my cool because as a Designer I understand that custom construction often has its delays. On August 30th Mark called me to let me know that he would most probably be installing the Unit on Monday September 2nd and that he needed me to bring him my choice of handles for the drawers, I took the handles to Mark the next day. On September 2nd he brought the cabinets and started the installation, without being installed I could see the professional workmanship of the wall unit and was very pleased even with the minor delays, I was able to see how meticulously he completed every face of the installation as my costume wall unit came to life.
I would like to thank not only Mark and Winter Woodworks but also Angie’s List and all appropriate feedback that sent me in the right direction.
Thank You Very Much
Custom fabricate new slats for our queen size bed.
We bought a really nice bedroom set from West Elm (the Stria bed) and it came with very cheaply made slats that even the store employees warned us would be problematic. Within 2 weeks the slats were falling out of place and thru the hole in the frame and subsequently, so were we (as a matter of fact my wife was so afraid of falling thru the bed that she became quite practiced at the art of sleeping and not moving an inch. After contemplating what to do I began to search for a carpenter on Angie’s list.
Mark came up and I read his reviews and looked at his designs and then spoke to him on the phone.
Mark took the time to understand our issue and come up with a way to handle it. He had me take measurements and pics, which I shared with him over email and phone. We communicated back and forth for a day or 2 and then he commenced work completing the job in 1 day and delivering it the next day.
Working with Mark was an absolute pleasure. Though I did not get to hire him to do something very warm and craftsman-like for me he still took the time and care necessary to totally solve our problem.
I will be hiring Mark again in the future for more projects that actually better suit his skill set (and that we could display to others). Rest assured, if you are looking for a true craftsman to make your wood dreams a reality, you need look no further than Mark Anthony and Winter Woodworking of Coconut Grove.
Mark produced 6 museum quality pedestals, as per our design and color specification. He provided delivery on site (the Miami Beach convention center) as well as providing us with a hand-truck to transport the pedestal inside of the center. I represent an international art gallery that came to Miami for Art Basel Miami Beach. Due to the nature of the art fair, we needed
professional quality pedestals to be produced at the very last minute (with one week of turn-around between estimate and finished product). Mark was very honest from the start about what he considered to be a reasonable time-frame to do the job. His estimate was extremely competitive and reasonable, and his willingness to deliver the goods (as well as his knowledge of delivery to the convention center) were an added bonus.
The end products were of very high quality. It is clear that Mark is a craftsman who takes the utmost pride in the quality of the work he produces.
Excellent service and price on japanese screen. Mark Anthony is a highly skilled carpenter. My mother had a vision for a japaneses screen to cover a large, unusually shaped window at home. Mark Anthony gave us no hemming and hawing. He did a beautiful job on the project and the price was great. I get compliments on the screen all the time.
Construction and installation of two doors and door-frames to fit in arched doorways. We needed two doors to fit in arched doorways at each end of a jack-and-Jill closet. Mark constructed the doors to match the existing doors in our 1920 house. He also made door frames to fit in the arches by bending the wood. He installed the frames and the doors, and even found and installed door-knobs to match those in the rest of the house. The result is beautiful — far better than we had imagined. He was also prompt and courteous, and his price was reasonable. I highly recommend him.
Design and construct new furniture – coffee table and chess table.
Excellent. Mark is a true craftsman and easy to work with.
Built and installed a large cabinet for my living room to match existing cabinets and made custom legs for 2 sofas to elevate them.
Mark Anthony is the owner of WinterWoodworks and did all the work himself. He was professional, punctual, and did excellent work. He completed the legs to the sofas very quickly as I needed the sofas elevated as soon as possible. He was very considerate about this. The legs look great-as if they were the originals. This was a very unusual request but he came over and looked at the sofas and we discussed possible approaches. He spent a considerable amount of time figuring out the best design.
On the cabinet: it took only a couple of weeks longer which I thought was very timely. He carefully matched the wood to other cabinets I already had. The result was excellent. Mark is also very personable and an interesting guy to chat with. He obviously takes great pride in his work and the satisfaction of the customer. I would definitely call him again for future woodworking.
He added an extension to our kitchen island.
It’s unique and fits perfectly. He did an excellent job.
He fixed and refinished my 30 year old Danish teak furniture. He did a beautiful job, they look like brand new furniture. I am very happy, and hope to use Mark to build some new items to go along with my old furniture.
Repaired five (5) furniture pieces that were damaged in an international move from Vienna Austria to Miami Florida. Also, refinished three (3) furniture items, coffee table, end table and side board table that had very complex resin coating and needed extensive and careful sanding.
The five (5) furniture items look as good as they did before the damage. Excellent job. It was an insurance claim and so the combination of the excellent estimate and excellent repair helped all the paperwork sail through. The three (3) finished furniture items were done very well. The tops were very complex to do and needed to be done perfectly for the job to be completed correctly. There where multiple scratches in a thick resin coating that covers the tops of each item and extensive sanding needed to be done. The furniture is over thirty years old and the tops look like new, bright, smooth and polished. Again an excellent job done for a very fair estimate. All was completed in a very professional manner.
Excellent workmanship.
Initially, I purchased a custom furniture design discount coupon offered by Winter Woodworks through Angie’s List. I needed a free-standing buffet cabinet to fit a particular area and that would coordinate with our other furnishings. We had an initial discussion about the function and style, and photos of other furnishings / finishes. This was fairly quickly followed by an initial rough sketch, which helped us finalize details such as the width of the drawer column, and refinements to the design and quote. In the design phase, I was particularly impressed with the distinctive integrated wood handles for the cabinet doors and drawers. The cabinet was produced and delivered within the estimated time frame, which was reasonable.
The delivered cabinet is stunning, a classic piece that we will keep forever. The design is beautifully executed (e.g., the way the wood grain of the drawer fronts is matched). The finish is perfect, and will be durable.
I was very happy with the process, and am planning to have additional work done.

I used the woodworking service of Winter Woodworks and he fixed the jewelry chest that was damaged.
Member Comments: He’s very good of what he does, he’s very knowledgeable and he knew his crafts. I would use him again if I want something fixed because he does a lot of handwork.
A full kitchen remodeling after previous contractor / carpenter completely defrauded me. Mark is worth waiting for. He is not only a master craftsman, he is a wealth of practical solutions. He stepped up and completely saved our kitchen after our previous contractor criminally defrauded us. I apologize to any other readers who have requested Mark’s services recently. We have kept him very busy! I don’t think any of us realized what a challenge this project would be. I can tell you that I met with Mark and determined to wait for him to finish another project before starting this project. I am very thankful that I did. For quality, pride of craftsmanship and attention to detail, he is the best. Our kitchen is near completion and Mark worked straight through the weekend to help us reach a deadline. I have already told him to use us as a reference. If you want the best, a craftsman who does ALL of the work with his own hands, he is your man.
