Here is another example of a gate installation where privacy and a design that doesn’t cry out for attention is key. The first image show the inside and the second from the outside. The manner in which they are built prevents seams from opening due to wood shrinking over the years. Also, I always choose a rot resistant wood, in this case cypress. I have sealed the staves to prevent water and sunlight damage. This carport gate and adjacent side gate shown here have the best solid bronze keyed locksets on the market. The customer added a few more pieces of gate hardware he found in our antique reproduction catalog. |
