Entertainment Unit
My idea was to use woods that have an appropriate look for the room’s country decor, namely, wormy chestnut, and a pale yellow and figured wood veneer called anigre. There are four anigre doors above the electronic equipment that conceal storage space, each with a black cast iron pull. Built into two of these doors are concealed speakers. This built-in entertainment unit was designed to hold hundreds of CDs, DVDs, video tapes of various formats, cassettes, even LPs in drawers that are 2ft. deep, on the left of the TV. I like the effect the holes give to the chestnut and I left the wood unfinished to retain this weathered look. To the right of the TV is the stack of electronic components (a slide-out tray for the turntable is shown). The glass allows the use of remote control devices with these doors closed.
